INTERVIEWS

At IURAA we give a voice to homeless people through interviews. We explain why.

More than 3,000 people live on the streets of the city of Barcelona. All these people have very different backgrounds and various reasons why they have ended up in their situation. However, they all have one thing in common: the living conditions they face on a daily basis. Unfortunately, our societal model does not facilitate their reintegration and this is where you can make a difference.

In the summer of 2020, IURAA began collaborating with professional photographer Stéphane Giloppe to produce photographic and literary portraits of homeless people in the city of Barcelona. These interviews will be published on the association’s social networks.

The ultimate aim of this project is to raise public awareness of the reasons that can lead these people to spend part of their lives on the street and the conditions of their daily lives. In addition to raising awareness, we hope to receive support from the public to raise funds, which will go to organisations and projects dedicated to the social inclusion or welfare of these people.

Within the framework of the Helping Hand project, we meet a large number of people in street situations. Over time, we gain the trust of these people, who decide to get involved in their own cause to help us raise awareness of this situation.
